formatting whitespace too aggressive
today, we unconditionally add formatting whitespace whenever a node is split. We need to do this in a smarter way, because sometimes that whitespace is significant. test case: <html><body>one<b>two</b></body></html> put the caret between 't' and 'w' type control-b to turn off bolding type a character notice the extra whitespace around the new character it's because we added newlines for formatting that are treated as significant for inline content. We need to surpress the formatting whitespace for inline nodes.
Yes, absolutely, we need to be smarter, starting with a check for inline (which should be very easy). Should this be an M11 fix? This will mostly affect output, so I'm marking it M12 (but will look at it right away); let me know if we want it in sooner.
M12 is fine.
I have the fix in my tree, will check in when M12 opens.
