Currently we only use tracking annotations for prioritizing network requests (no blocking) and so there is no need for users to override this and whitelist top-level sites. Once FastBlock uses tracking annotations however, it will be blocking network requests after a timeout and so it is possible that it will break some things. We should make sure that the Control Center shows the shield when FastBlock cancels anything and that users are able to add an override through the usual "Disable For This Site" button. This bug is for any UI-related changes. The work to make the override possible on the platform side is being done in bug 1461534.

Do we want to disable the tracking annotations here, or disable fastblocking based on them? If we do the former, then that UI will disable both fastblock and bug 1473978 possibly among other features in the future...

(In reply to :Ehsan Akhgari from comment #1) > Do we want to disable the tracking annotations here, or disable fastblocking > based on them? I believe we want a single user toggle to unblock a site regardless of the actual feature that's breaking it (TP, fastblock, tailing, default cookie restrictions, etc.).

So I suppose this bug is about the control center displaying the correct UI when FastBlock is active. I don't see why we would need control center changes for enforcing tracking protection exceptions, we'd just need to make sure all future blockers adhere to them.

Francois, based on our discussion that FastBlock needs to adhere to the global contentblocking pref and the TP exceptions, can we close this bug? I don't think there's any additional UI work required...

If it's already done, then we don't need another bug for it :)
