User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:62.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/62.0
Build ID: 20180705151535
Steps to reproduce:
1. Save a new bookmark
Actual results:
The new confirmation popup's message, "Saved to Library!" ends in an exclamation point that could have two readings, neither ideal.
Since it's clearly not an alert message (ie. "Saved to Library" being a bad thing), that only leaves one interpretation:
That "Saved to Library!" is to be said in the same worn-out faux excitement as using "rockstar" in a coder's job title. (It feels as if adding a "Yay!" after it wouldn't be out of place.)
...and here's a citation for the "worn-out" part on the job title. According to Packt Publishing's "Skill Up 2018" report, "Just 26% of developers said that they liked creative job terms like ‘rockstar’, ‘wizard’ and ‘ninja’ in the tech sector. Only developers living in Asia were more likely to approve of the terms. Even then only
45% say they like them. Every other continent is pretty cynical. Take note,
recruiters!"")
(And, as a Canadian, I should caution that, in my experience, that sort of approach to communication is often received by people in other countries as "Yet another example of Americans trying to export their shallow 'fake it enough and you'll start to believe it' culture" and is often seen as irritating.)
Expected results:
The popup should just say "Saved to Library" without terminal punctuation, as has been standard in UI design guidelines for short, grammatically abbreviated status messages since at least the early 90s.

This was part of the ux design, and it's also used for other actions like "Copied to clipboard!" or "Search engine added!".
If we're going to change one, we'll have to change all of them.

Thanks, Marco and Sylvestre. Please let the punctuation stand as is for now. I will raise the reporter's concerns with the team, and if we decide to make this type of change we will document it in the style guide and enter bugs to address all instances for consistency.
