This is mainly a request to reexamine bug 29782 as it sounds exactly like what I'm experiencing. The problem is definately more severe than an enhancement, as it makes mailnews unusable, and it also appears on more than just Linux. His steps to reproduce are right on, and I'm sure that the mail is getting to the mailbox because I can view the messages in my mailbox through things like tail <filename>. The system logs also varify the messages as delivered successfully. No matter how many messges get through, Mozilla doesn't normally report any new ones until a restart of Mozilla has been done. It never reports new ones through hitting get new messgaes, and it only very rarely gets them through the automatic check for new messages thing. I've found that by increasing the delay between message checks the chances of reporting new messages goes up from never to very rarely.
