firefox fails to quit during osx shutdown

Steps to reproduce:
1. have firefox running
2. shutdown osx version 10.9.5
Actual results:
firefox won't quit, preventing osx from shutdown and firefox has to be force-quit
Expected results:
firefox quits as any other application without preventing osx from proper shutdown. no need to force-quit firefox

I couldn't reproduce this issue with Mac OS 10.12, 10.13.6 or 10.14
User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.12; rv:61.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/61.0
I would suggest you to update your Mac OS to newer version and see if problem persists for you. Let us know your finding. Thanks!
