The (German)greeting page of email client (see attachment) offers 2 links for dictionaries download:
https://addons.mozilla.org/de/seamonkey/dictionaries
and
http://addons.mozilla.org/seamonkey/

The links will have to be adapted if the dictionaries also will move (I think they will)

I changed all code locations and prefs in the patch in bug 1475799. Just let addons.thunderbird.net go online and see what works and what still needs to be changed.

is this still a problem in 2.53 and up? I switched over all locations in Bug 1475799. Just need to uplift it to 2.49.x

No longer reproducible with installation of unofficial (by wg9s) en-US SeaMonkey 2.53 (NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:56.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/56.0 Build 20190211152201 (Default Classic Theme, German Language Pack active) on German WIN7 64bit.

There I see links leading to
https://addons.thunderbird.net/de/seamonkey/dictionaries
and
http://addons.thunderbird.net/seamonkey/

Thanks. Winnie, sorry please find a new bug. There are several open in the help area which are good bugs for starters to get familiar with doing and submitting patches.
