I'm sorry but we don't plan to support multi selection in the Library left pane for now, it would be quite a complication for the current codebase.

What is really missing in the Library is some kind of extended search with parameters like tags, titles, URLs etc. (GUI or some kind of search syntax, like (title:title_1 OR title:title_2) AND tag:tag_1). Or at least add the Awesome Bar search syntax.

yes, that is missing in general, also for history. Hopefully future history/bookmarking UI will be able to introduce some decent filtering.
