Steps to reproduce:

1. Pin tab in normal window
2. Open private browsing window
3. Close normal window
4. Open new normal window
5. Close all firefox windows
6. Pinned tab no longer opens on browser launch


Actual results:

My pinned tabs were lost after private browsing


Expected results:

Pinned tabs should either come back when the normal window is initially opened or when the browser is opened again

I have tested this report on Windows 10 x64, Ubuntu 18.04 x65 and OS X 10.12 using latest Nightly, Beta 62.0b9 and Firefox release build. I was able to reproduce the mentioned behavior only all tested platforms. When pinning a couple of tabs in a normal window, then open a private browser all pinned tabs disappear. After that opening, a new normal window nor a private one shows the pinned tabs. I would expect the pinned tabs to come back when the browser is opened again.

Please change if this is not the correct component.

I don't see how this is expected behavior. If I pin a tab and close my firefox window, they come back when I reopen firefox. If I open a private window then close my normal window, then close my private window, pinned tabs reappear when the browser is reopened. However if you open a normal window after having closed all non-private windows, the pinned tabs do not reappear, and are lost the next time when firefox is opened. 

It is my understanding that pinned tabs should stick around and shouldn't be lost just because I happen to open and close private browsing windows in a particular order.

Hi, whats the status on this? Still not fixed in the latest versions. This is a very old and frustrating bug and I'd really like to see this resolved.

Its also not exclusive to private windows. If you repeat the same setup but using a separate normal window, the same thing occurs. I did not expect this to happen and lost my pinned tabs as a result (yet again).

Totally agree that this is a very old and very annoying bug. It can be reproduced like this: Simply drag and drop a tab to a new window, close the main window with all the pinned tabs and the close the second Firefox window (without any pinned tabs). After restarting Firefox, all pinned tabs are gone.
