someone tried to post a "x-ebcdic-germany" coded article in a newsgroup (de.comm.software.newsreader) I can't find a posibility to decode it. I think, this feature should be added e.g. <3q5veucdcat53rvalfrbki9q5me2q7tdvb@4ax.com> [ ... cut ... ] Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=EBCDIC-AT-DE Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable User-Agent: recode/inews [ ... cut ... ] nnnn%=E2=A5=85=95@=C7=96=A3=A3=A6=81=93=84@L=97=93=85=80=A2=85K=A4=A2=85K= =99=85=97=93=A8`=A3=96K=84=85n@=A6=99=96=A3=85%\@=D8=A4=96=A3=89=95=87@=C1= =95=84=99=85=81=A2@=D4=85=A3=A9=93=85=99@L=81=94=85=A3=A9=93=85=99=80=84=96= =A6=95=88=89=93=93K=81=A3K=85=A4K=96=99=87nz%nn@=81=A2=83=89=89`=E9=85=89= =83=88=85=95@=92=81=95=95@=89=83=88@=94=89=A3@=A9K=C2K@=99=85=83=96=84=85@= [ ... cut ... ] another Person started the thread. His postings may be destroyed with coding them. I can't check it. Starting Thread: <3q5veucdcat53rvalfrbki9q5me2q7tdvb@4ax.com> you should check up, what "chars" the posters have quoted, when answering to all ebcdic-coded messages (several in thread)
System indepenend. And I think, it is MIME. pi

I think this is not mail specific. I think we don't have a converter.

I don't know how charsets are implemented, but if it is just a question of translation tables (unicode to whatever) I can attach several EBCDIC tables later today. pi
Attached file ebcdic.tgz
Various EBCDIC dialects. pi
I simply don't understand how can anyone support any EBCDIC on newsgroup. the "=" itself is not a EBCDIC "=" mark this bug simply won't fix.
