User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:61.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/61.0 Build ID: 20180704003137 Steps to reproduce: Hi guys. Can anyone tell me why TB very slowly loads photos from gmail messages? When I open gmail in Firefox browser I don't have any problem with photos loading speed. But when I use TB I need to wait very long to show the same attachments.

1. Test mode - nothing changes. 2. TB 52 - the same speed. 3. Where can I check imap sync enabled option for the folder?
(In reply to pete82 from comment #4) > 3. Where can I check imap sync enabled option for the folder? right+click folder > properties > sync > select this folder for offline use should be enabled (checked) Also a) how big is the folder (in the properties tab), and what type of computer are you running?

My pc is fast, i7 and ssd and 16GB RAM. Also internet connection is very fast. Folder has 11 MB. When I select offline syng TB just download all folder at once and save it for my drive, right? If right this is no solution. I don't want store all mails on my drive. :) Mailspring doesn't save offline and I can read gmail at the speed like for web browser window.
What is size of these attachments? Does it happen if only one attachment?
Summary: Slowly load photo attachments from gmail. → Slowly load unsynced photo attachments from gmail.
Size is about 4,6MB. For my bandwidth I need less than one second to download 10MB so it's not size matter. It's not only attachments problem. Very often I need to wait very long to load new mails. BTW with others accounts on pop verification I don't have this problem. Only Gmail is working slowly.

Are you downloading the picture to a file and then opening it with a separate application? Or are you displaying the attachments inline in tb and just viewing them there? If you shutdown tb and then start it back up and go to a message with a large attachment, I assume you are saying the download is slow. If you then go to another message (with or without a picture attachment) and open it and then go back to the original message with the large attachment, is the 2nd access to that large attachment also slow? When you only store messages on the imap server like you are doing (no local disk storage/sync), tb uses a RAM memory cache to save the most recent accessed attachments so the 2nd access should be quicker. The memory cache is cleared on tb restart. Another issue that can slow down access to large attachments is a feature called "chunking". This causes the attachment download to occur in possibly many small chunks requiring more communication "round-trips". Disabling this might be helpful. Go to the 3 horizontal bars icon at the top right and select Options/Advanced/Config Editor. In the config editor search for fetch_by_chunks. Double click the displayed line so it changes to false (and the line also becomes bold when set to a non-default value). Restart tb and see if that improves the speed.

You mention pop here. My assumption is that you are accessing gmail with IMAP and not POP3! Just want to make sure.
fetch_by_chunks fale = problem solved! THANK YOU :)
Glad it helped! This appears to be a duplicate of this bug (or at least they have a common solution): Bug 1460104
