If I restart Firefox with untouched "New Tab" tabs open, they are frequently (though not always?) blank, as per the attached image. In cases where they're not blank - they text "New Tab" is there - they're usually missing the usual favicon.

I'm in current Nightly on an up-to-date Windows 10, hardware is a recent-gen Surface Book.
Severity: normal → minor
Do you know if this is a recent regression? Any chance you could use mozregression ( http://mozilla.github.io/mozregression/ ) to find out? Unfortunately I can't reproduce or I'd run it myself...
Flags: needinfo?(mhoye)
Do you see anything in the browser console when this has happened?
Per bug 1463712 I think this happens with about:newtab tabs.

[....] and then we get into soundmanager and telemetry stuff.

Cameron, was your intent to close this bug fixed? It's def. not working for me...
Flags: needinfo?(mhoye)
No, that was a misclick.

Is this still happening? This seems like a serious regression (if it is indeed a regression) that we should avoid shipping if we can.

Not Mike, but this is still happening for me.
Mike (de Boer), what kind of diagnostic info do you need from people who are seeing this so we can track this down and fix it?
Flags: needinfo?(mhoye) → needinfo?(mdeboer)
Well, there's not really any diagnostic info that'd help here. The only thing that would - and has worked in the past: Cameron, can you send me your sessionstore.jsonlz4 file to me when this happens? The entire profile directory would be even better, but that can be like putting your entire livelihood on the wire.

There are ways to do that securely between two people; the only thing left to trust with your data would be my blue eyes.

These STR work for me. I can send you the profile directory that result from this too if it's helpful:

1. Create a new profile and start the browser with it.
2. Open about:preferences.
3. Tick "Restore previous session" under General > Startup.
4. Select "Blank page" for both "Homepage and new windows" and "New tabs" under Home > New Windows and Tabs.
5. Press Cmd+T / Ctrl+T a number of times to open some blank tabs.
6. Press Cmd+Q / Ctrl+Q.
7. Re-open the browser.

That'd be fantastic, yes!
