I wonder how many people actually use mach pastebin and if it is something that we deprecate if it's not in widespread use.  It would be interesting to get some build telemetry data on its usage.

Or we could just point it to use whatever mozilla is going to replace the existing pastebin with, looking at slack it looks like this is still under discussion.

bug 1480438 hasn't made any headway. I'd suggest that we remove the mach pastebin command for now to avoid confusion over the fact that it doesn't work. I ran a query on build telemetry and it only shows one invocation of mach pastebin total over the last week (which is not surprising since it doesn't actually work).
