In my test case the font is set to helvetica. Italic text in a table cell goes
beyond the table boundary and has a space between every character. The text goes
off the edge of the table.
PS I'll attach my minimal test case when I figure out how to do attachments.

What build are you using?  If you could test a recent (last 2 days) nightly 
that would be great -- a similar bug was recently fixed.
i can reproduce on win98 20002053006 build from latest-1.0.0

theres a thread on netscape.public.mozilla.seamonkey

has only showed up on win98, on winXP/NT systems the text displays correctly

Yeah.  At this point "recent" means "not 1.0 branch"
Confirming on both site and testcases, Win98, 2002052809.

Same build on a Win2k machine does not display any of the problems reported.
