From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:1.0rc3) Gecko/20020523 BuildID: 2002052306 When I start RC3, the URL line is blank even after a page loads (the Mozilla home page). I can click around for hours, and that URL will remain blank. I can however bookmark the page I am on. But the URL isn't visible to me. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start browser 2. Look at URL line in toolbar. 3. Click links, look again. Rinse, repeat. Actual Results: Stays blank. Expected Results: Should show the URL for the page I am on.
This has been reported several times, but i've yet to see it myself. When you install: Do you perform a clean installation? (Uninstalling possibly older builds first?) Do you have extra themes installed?
No themes installed. Nothing custom at all but the bookmarks, actually. Not a clean installation, no. And uninstalling and reinstalling it did solve the problem. This is the third major bug I have seen because of upgrade issues. If you can't be bothered to write good upgrade scripts, why don't you simply have the installer remove the previous version before installing the update? This is a dumb problem to have reoccuring, and making sure that installations work properly isn't the user's responsibility ... At the very least, check for a previous version and pop up a dialog box saying that the installation can't continue until the previous version is uninstalled.
