[Note: I'm currently using build 2002052305. This form I'm filling out doesn't
have a build ID field for entering that information.]
Every once in a while, I'll get a page that I can't load, or a page that loads,
but has a missing image -- when I know that these pages and images do exist.
When a page won't load, (I wish I could remember the exact wording, but I don't)
I get an error dialog saying that the page can't be found or is missing.
When an image doesn't load, I see nothing at all -- no broken image icon, no
error message, simply no space taken up by the image (at least when the HTML
doesn't specify image width and height).
When one of the above failures occurs, I can still get the same pages and images
to load using Internet Explorer. Quitting Mozilla and restarting also fixes the
problem. This has only happened when revisiting a web page that I've already
been to before since the last time I launched Mozilla, which is why I suspect a
problem with caching is somehow involved.
The last time this happened, I was checking the status of an auction I have
running on eBay. I'd viewed the auction earlier in the day, and left Mozilla
running. When I went back to view the page, I was surprised to see my
self-hosted image had disappeared from my item's listing.
My first suspicion was that something was wrong on the eBay end, so I checked
the page's HTML. The <img...> tag for my image was still there. I then entered
the URL for my .jpg image directly into the address field of the browser window.
At this point I got an error message telling me the resource couldn't be found
(or words to that effect).
I was then concerned that somehow the image was missing from my own web site
where I was hosting the image. I then pasted the same image URL into Internet
Explorer -- the image appeared without any problems. I tried again in Mozilla --
still didn't work.
I quit Mozilla, restarted it, pasted in the URL -- success. I went back to my
eBay auction page -- the image was back.
Please keep in mind the above is only one example of something I've run into
perhaps five or six times since I started using Mozilla nearly full time a few
builds and several weeks ago.

Cache setting is "When the page is out of date".

No -- I'm not using a proxy.
Sending to Networking: Cache for now.
