Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13_6) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/11.1.1 Safari/605.1.15 Build ID: 20100101 Steps to reproduce: I tried to add https://www.linux.com/rss/feeds.php as a RSS feed to Thunderbird Actual results: I got a hint that the address is not a valid feed. However, the "Feed Validation Service" says it is a valid RSS feed. Expected results: This address has been accepted by other RSS readers like QuiteRSS. I expected it to be accepted by Thunderbird as well.
https://www.linux.com/rss/feeds.php does test as valid. In my case I got no feedback whatsoever, and nothing in Error Console - most odd
Component: Untriaged → Feed Reader
Product: Thunderbird → MailNews Core
From the error console: 2018-09-03 13:11:59 Feeds ERROR FeedParser.parseAsRSS2: missing mandatory element <title> and <description>, or <link> And the guide is explicit about this rejection, regardless of the validator. The RSS2.0 spec is clear; inform the publisher to make the simple change required to be spec compliant.

I see. However, from a vanilla user's perspective TB's behaviour seems to be a bit finicky as RSS readers like QuiteRSS or Liferea accept that feed without any problem. So I'm afraid for most people it's simply a bad user experience if something doesn't work in TB which works flawlessly in other applications.
