Details

On certain devices it's hard to write diacritics. On mobile phones it takes some extra time (press and hold the letter, aim for the right accented variant), or on laptop with English keyboard, even if you browse the web with Firefox in your maternal language.

The expected behaviour would be if you search for "tata", Firefox will match not just "tata", but also "táta", and vice versa. I could be opt-in/out the same way as case insensitive search.
