I am unable to associate an external program to open specific file extensions
when the mimetype of the file (although it has some specific extension) is
text/plain.
In this case, Mozilla will always display it in the browser. I evangelized the
website owner to change the mimetype of those *.igc files to something like
application/igc, but this is beyond my immediate control and I would like it to
work. In Windows this seems to work (at least I have seen it work with someone's
IE).
If this can be done somehow, I would like to hear from you.

Ie use content sniffing / use the file extension but that violates the standard.
Mozilla use the mime-type from the server and Mozilla renders it if the site
send text/plain because Mozilla can handle text/plain.

Is there a work-around for the time being; in the Real World(tm)?
(I cannot do more than lobby the webmaster, but you know how it goes.)

URL is gone. I'd suggest that this bug shouldn't be closed yet. Reporter, is
there a new test case?
