I would like pressing the Escape key to clear the search input field. Right now it now it only closes the search engine drop-down so there should be no problem for users.

This allows folks using a keyboard-only workflow to easily clear their search terms to perform another search or go to the search form for the current search engine.

I'm trying to switch away from an XUL plugin that allows multiple search engines in the toolbars and one of the features it has is clearing the input field using the Escape key.
