(Attached screenshot for clarity) I think that a user casually scrolling through her/ his preferences and hitting this one specifically would have trouble understanding what this means. Sure, a web search is quickly made, but we don't know what kind of information will be found that way. I think we should provide more contextual information next to this particular setting, or perhaps the entire section, if only to explain the jargon. A 'learn more' link, as used in other sections, would suffice I'd say.
Component: Security → Preferences
I agree, that's pretty jargon-y.
Priority: -- → P3
Can we just remove it? While we're here, can we remove the client certificate options as well? (The vast majority of users don't have or use client certificates, and for those who do, "select one automatically" is a privacy disaster.)
Would it be totally out of the question to move the other stuff in the Certificates section to an about:certificates page while removing this? We could kill certManager.xul and deviceManager.xul this could be a great student/intern project. It would also give us more real estate to convey more information to people who really care about it. Thoughts?
Severity: normal → S3
