steps:

install acrobat test plugin (provided by adobe meant for os x) 
launch chimera
go to above url
point the right acrobat reader app from ur HD in the box that opens up
click OPEN....u might crash here 

If u don't...observe a blank page load up. hit RELOAD and see the same dialog
asking u to select the acrobat app comes up again.

should check if this an xpcom plugin. Also, a stack trace would be nice.
I'd test, but I obviously have no access to the Acrobat test plug-in.

What is the current availability of the plugin you're attempting to use. Also,
is this still a problem in current builds.
