Steps to reproduce:

open Thunderbird


Actual results:

homescreen disappears bit by bit until it's it uninteractable.

the actual window seems to crumble from the bottom right and towards the upper left

I can start safe mode and and tick "disable addons" and reset "toolbars and controls"
then doubleclick the taskbar icon by doing this I get a couple of seconds getting access to the top bar but even when I managed to gett the window to full screen it disappeared again


Expected results:

display the homescreen

What if you start in safe mode from the beginning, shift+click from start menu?

I can reproduce this.
When start Tb, start page is appears briefly, then display folder / thread / preview pane.

Tb should directly start with folder / thread / preview pane.

I don't understand Jimmy's description, but so far it doesn't sound like bug 1484270

Is the only issue that bothers you what is you see in attachment 9014490 [details]? 
If it is not, then you need to describe this more accurately what you are doing and seeing.
