RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 613785

People

(Reporter: nachtigall, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:64.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/64.0

Steps to reproduce:

1. Go to a site that is protected by http's basic authentification as created with htpasswd (As a developer I have plenty of these as it's the easiest way to setup a protected site, e.g. for staging sites)
2. Have the password for this site in another tab (maybe internal extranet documentation page)

Actual results:

3. "authentification required" popup opens and blocks whole window. I cannot go back to the other tab (the internal extranet page) where the username/password was noted.

Expected results:

The "authentification required" popup should not block all tabs (whole window) but only the current tab. Chrome does it correctly.

Actually, it might not even block anything but be just a normal Firefox overlay. An overlay like https://design.firefox.com/photon/patterns/overlay.html or a doorhanger like https://design.firefox.com/photon/components/doorhangers.html might be better.

I found bug 123913 and bug 59314 but both are fixed and more general in nature.

This bug here is about the still blocking "authentification required" popup.
