Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.12; rv:56.0; Waterfox) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/56.2.3
Steps to reproduce:
I have not been able to find instructions to configure Firefox for my safety needs.
The last time I reinstalled Firefox, I misconfigured some of the safety settings, and got hit by an animated png, making me very sick.
I lost my last installation, due to Nightly and a botched restore from what turned out to be an incomplete backup.
Expected results:
I think clear, downloadable instructions would help.
So users can identify which about:config fixes we may need, which user css we may need, and so on. As it is, we have to search for scattered advice online. If we don't already have one browser configured for safety, we may get hurt trying to figure out how to configure one for safety. support.mozilla.com might help, but it's not especially accessible and not easily searchable.
I am willing to offer some of my own solutions, but it's hard to track down all of them, I haven't solved all of my safety problems, and I have to block several sites to avoid stumbling onto them.
Some of my starting fixes for flash and motion-senstive users:
ui.caretBlinkTime 0
toolkit.cosmeticAnimations.enabled false
image.animation_mode none
media.autoplay.enabled false
I am not aware of an adequate solution to the tab throbbers-- I currently user another browser.
Thanks for letting us know of the issue. I'm not entirely sure what component this would go under. Perhaps someone on the Disability Access team can help with which component this enhancement request might best fit under?

I'd say this would best fit in a SuMo article.
Component: Disability Access → Knowledge Base Content
Product: Firefox → support.mozilla.org
Version: other → unspecified
Thank you for filing this bug. We generally avoid having about:config articles in the knowledge base since it might cause further breakage that we can't help them with. I'm need-infoing myself to explore some options and I'll get back to you soon.

Sorry, but the article doesn't explain why these safety problems won't be fixed. reopening.
And it's just sadistic to have default settings which injure users and reject any instructions for users to create safe settings.

Here is an old, rough, incomplete list:

So are there downloadable instructions for people trying to configure Firefox for basic safety? If so, where?
