From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.0.0) Gecko/20020530
BuildID: 2002053012
While surfing with a few tabs open, all of a sudden links in pages weren't
working. I tried to go to a site by typing the URL in the address bar but
nothing would open. I tried to open Theme Preferences to see if there was a
problem w/ LittleMozilla (I had downloaded the version I'm using now w/ RC3) but
not only did I have to click on "Apply Theme" for the submenu to pop up, but the
prefs never came up. I closed all tabs (except the remaing tab) and tried typing
the URL in address bar again, but nothing happened. I tried clicking on the
default options under the "Windows" menu (Ctrl+# submenu items) but nothing came
up from that, either. Then I noticed that under the Windows menu ghost menu
items were appearing where normally windows that are currently opened should be
listed. Instead, the entries were blank. I took snapshots of the growing ghost
list and noticed that it grew with each window I tried to open (theme prefs,
composer, chatzilla, etc.). Opening new tabs, closing the original didn't help.
The only thing I could do was exit/relaunch Mozilla.
Reproducible: Didn't try
I noticed in the notes somewhere that I should erase my profile between versions
of Mozilla (I never had before...just uninstalled via Add/Remove Programs) but
instead of trying to dig through my HD to find the profile folder, I decided to
keep the one I had (I'd not had a profile-related problem since I had installed
Netscape 6.0x many moons ago, after which I decided not to install both at the
same time). See screenshots if this sounds confusing...

attachment 86769 [details] shows the growing ghost list as well as the blank tab where
google should have loaded (I had entered the URL in the address bar and pressed
the enter key)

Reporter: did you try with a newly created profile?
Maybe this bug is caused by an outdated third party theme - I had it too around
1.0rc1 / rc2.
If you find that there is no problem with a new profile you still don't have to
delete your old one, but only the folder with your chromes/themes.
See also bug 144027 for further description of a bug induced by old themes...
And please resolve this bug here if you don't see it with a recent build or are
able to restore correct bbehaviour by deleting old themes. Thanks.

earthsound: I'm marking this bug WORKSFORME because no mozilla developer could
reproduce it. Please see comment #5 about the known bug with old chrome... if
you still experience this problem with a new version of mozilla (1.2a) and a new
profile, please re-open this bug. Thank you!
