The actual mozilla 1.0 build (20020606?) does not start on my HP-UX 11.00 machine:

hippmann@wespe: ~/ > ln -s /opt/mozilla-1.0 /opt/mozilla
hippmann@wespe: ~/ > /opt/mozilla/mozilla
hippmann@wespe: ~/ > ps -ef | grep mozilla

RC3 runs fine:

Can you try to delete/Move away the file "component.reg" ?
Yes, here we go:

Oh yes, you are right. I copied component.reg from RC3 and now it runs fine.
Thanks for your help!
(Deleting it was not sufficient because as normal user mozilla was not allowed
to write to /opt/mozilla/.)
