(Lina this bug is just for tracking my work on the analysis, I'll be sure to update the other related bugs with updates/ping you directly)

This analysis is already in progress, I've shared the initial results with Lina directly. My next steps are:

1. look at engine failure reasons to see if there are any that are particularly worse for the new engine
2. see if I can find an explanation for the `sdiff:parentid` validation problem increase
3. write up the findings in a report and share it with people
