Far more than half of topics I respond to want a reply from the OP. If there have been no replies, the checkbox should be enabled.

Or, have it default to my last chosen setting.

Wayne,

  1. Having the checkbox enabled by default to topics/user-posted questions which have no replies could potentially introduce a wrong ni? request for OP's (which wrote a detailed question in such a way that no other additional information is needed). In such cases, the respondent needs to be extra careful in unchecking the checkbox before leaving a reply.

  2. Defaulting to the last chosen setting per Comment 1 would potentially request information from OP's each time you reply to questions (if you forget to uncheck) and not request the ni? when you forget to check again (if previously unchecked).

This change could cause respondents to be extra careful when replying to a question rather than just check the "Needs more information from the user" when actually needed.

Wondering what your thoughts are and if we should still keep this enhancement ticket open.

Thank you!

Even if there is not an explict question in a resopnse posting, more often than not the information provided to the OP implies that the OP should try what has been posted and provide a respond and/or set the topic as "solved".

I agree, there will be cases where a response is not required of the OP. But if someone is responding in SUMO, you would have to think that ^^ applies in the vast majority of cases.
