Attached file fonts.conf —
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:63.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/63.0 Steps to reproduce: I use Ubuntu and have a fonts.conf (attached) overriding various fonts I don't like. I used to just have "Allow pages to choose their own fonts" unchecked, but with so many web sites using web fonts for graphics these days it's not practical anymore. Actual results: For sites using src() and local() to specify font locations, those locations are used, instead of the font indicated by fonts.conf for the family name. Expected results: Local font to be used rather than web font, if the family name matches one in fonts.conf. Being able to override fonts using userContent.css would have been acceptable too, but that's not possible either (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=827422)

I'm not sure I agree with the expectation that fonts.conf should override @font-face resources. > Actual results: > For sites using src() and local() to specify font locations, those locations are used, instead of the font indicated by fonts.conf for the family name. This seems like the "expected" result to me. @font-face declares a font-family name (which is an arbitrary identifier internal to CSS, unrelated to either the installed fonts on the system or the "real" name of the font resource as given by its designer), and associates it with one or more font resources; the expectation is that these resources will be used, making the rendering entirely independent of the local system's font configuration.
OK, that makes sense. Since I already have a lot of font config for my OS, I was hoping to be able to use the same thing for Firefox, but I suppose I'll have to look at some extension like Stylus for this.
