Details

Select-All stopped working in the three pane view, neither from Edit menu, nor the command-A shortcut (on Macs). The change happened on updating to `64.0 beta 1`. I don't know which version I had previously (last check for updates was probably 1 month ago). There was an old (9 years ago) bug which may have been similar #520770 Tools/Error Console shows ``` TypeError: aTab is undefined, can't access property "mode" of it[Learn More] mail3PaneWindowCommands.js:984:9 doCommand chrome://messenger/content/mail3PaneWindowCommands.js:984:9 doCommand chrome://calendar/content/calendar-common-sets.js:427:21 ```
Note - in my error console I also see errors: ``` TypeError: gFolderDisplay is null, can't access property "view" of it at msgViewPickerOverlay.js:103 ReferenceError: assignment to undeclared variable msgHdr at SpotlightIntegration.js:800 TypeError: this.gViewSourceUtils is undefined, can't access property "viewSource" of it at webconsole.js:152 ``` and warning ``` Ignoring unrecognized chrome manifest directive 'overlay'. at chrome.manifest:(multiple lines) ``` I have no idea if those are related, or completely unrelated issues.
> I have no idea if those are related, or completely unrelated issues. If you delete the contents error console before you perform the action, then you can be reasonable sure they are related Does the same problem happen in safe mode?

Summary: Select All failing in message p → Select All failing in message list
Hmm, I thought we had fixed "Select all" in bug 1498588 :-( - That said, it work OK in a Daily 65 on Windows.

That is the same bug we fixed in bug 1498588. Reporter, can you go to the Add-Ons Manager and tell us what version of Lightning is installed?
Flags: needinfo?(geoff)
Lightning is 6.5 (No Updates Found). ALl other Add-Ons have been disabled (by this, or a previous, update) Only PlugIn is "Shockwave Flash" Wayne @:wsmwk - could you remind me how to run Safe mode if its still needed. I did delete the contents of error console, and they did not appear during the same action, but during the same minimalist run of TB, I reported them just in case it helped indicate some other problem with some data structure or other.

I suspected as much. Lightning should be at version 6.6 for Thunderbird 64. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/calendar-updates-issues-thunderbird and scroll down to "When I use my user profile from a previous Thunderbird version with a newer version of Thunderbird, Lightning is not updated" for instructions on making it update.
Thanks - before I do that, my update to TB wasn't manual (did an About TB and it prompted me to update). I'm not doing anything clever with profiles - just running one profile and assuming it also gets updated as required. Should Lightning have updated, or at least have shown up under "Tools/Add-Ons/Check for Updated" ?
Lightning should have updated its distributed version when you installed TB 64. The matching version in not on ATN (formerly AMO), so the update check doesn't work. Please follow the instructions given in the article mentioned in comment #6. Basically remove Lightning, reset pref extensions.installedDistroAddon.{e2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103} and restart TB.
TB did another update and Cmd-A restored itself, so I didnt' need to go thru the steps. If this happens to a lot of people then it might be useful to leave this open until someone figures out why ...
As we said, this bug is already fixed in the latest version.
