From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows NT 5.0) BuildID: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.0.0) Gecko/20020530 I have a fairly fresh insatll of Windows 2000, barely 2 months old. Everything I use was up to date as per the Microsoft Update function. I am a student, currently studying Java Programming and development and my platform has been very stable this past two months without experiencing any crashes with Internet Explorer. Since installing Mozzilla V1.0, Internet Explorer has crashed 8 times in the last two days. Somehting tinstalled by Mozilla is interfering with the corretc operation of Internet Explorer, Version 5.5 It seems to happen randomly, even on non multi media site, although I'd hazard that it happens more often with Multi-media sites. Reproducible: Didn't try Even the removal of mozzilla did not return the system back to stability. Do you have a list of all the files that get replaced so that I can backtrack and repair my system? I am not a fan of software that corrupts what I already have in place, and another install of WIndows 2000 is not in the cards today.
--> Browser-general for further triage. We don't want stuff like this to happen. Critical severity. Reporter, it might be Java. Have you installed Sun Java? If you have, remove it with Add/Remove Programs. Then, download a new copy from http://java.sun.com/. Install it. During the installation, tell Sun Java to make itself work with Netscape 6, but not Internet Explorer. Does that solve the problem?

-> invalid Mozilla doesn't install any DLL files in your OS system directory. (Only Mapi32.dll for the default Mail application) Registry settings : Only for the default File Types and URLs. You can download a Zip based build, extract it in a directory and run it ! Mozilla will replace Mapi32.dll if select Mozilla Mailnews as default Mail application. (and that should be only a problem with Outlook). No other system files are touched !! All Mozilla based Profile data is stored under win2k : C:\Documents and Settings\[Windows Login Name]\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\[Profile Name]\[random string].slt\ (this directory is still there and will not removed with uninstalling but this will not cause a problem)

BTW: It's possible that you installed JRE1.4 with mozilla but JRE1.4 is not coming with mozilla itself, you must install it as additional package. It's possible that IE use now this JVM instead of the MS crap JVM
