User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:63.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/63.0 Steps to reproduce: Using the en-us installer from https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/ leads to an error, because "the OS platform is not supported". Other languages (eg german) work as expected. Actual results: Installation fails (OS platform not supported) Expected results: Installation succeeds
If you are running the installer in win10, then the OS *must* be running the installer in some compatibility mode.

(In reply to Wayne Mery (:wsmwk) from comment #1) > If you are running the installer in win10, then the OS *must* be running the > installer in some compatibility mode. We're deploying Thunderbird unattended in our whole organisation. The german installer works fine, the us-english one doesn't - on the ame machine with the same OS. Where is the difference?

> We're deploying Thunderbird unattended in our whole organisation. It's your deployment software - it is running in one of the Windows compatibility modes that mimics XP/vista/etc. (I've seen it happen before)
No, it doens't. Anyway, the file got obviously replaced. It works fine now. I kept the old ENU-6030-installer and it still doesn't work on any windows machine I own.

The last person who reported this was within the past year found the problem was the deployment tool or AV software forcing compatibility mode, and it wasn't at all obvious. (I wish I could find the reference) I don't understand what you are saying in comment 4, but in the absence of confirming data this is not a Thunderbird bug. What exactly is being used to deploy? The previous en-US download file that deployed successfully - does it also fail today, or does it succeed?
