Yesterday (23 November) I started up my PC at abut 14:15 CET and opened up Thunderbird to read any new messages. Nothing untoward to note. About an hour later, I suddenly saw that there were only about 15 messages in the Inbox instead of the 70-odd that had been there. To cut a long story short, the culprit turned out to be an existing filter that had been edited to carry out an additional task namely to delete all messages older than 2 days from the Inbox. A check in the Activity Manager showed that 58 messages had been moved to Deleted at 15:15. Fortunately I have been able to retrieve everything and of course delete the extra task in the filter. The question is of course, how did that extra task get there? I have checked all my security aspects. There are no viruses, Trojans, etc on my system nor have there been any intrusions noted. I have also searched the internet for reports of any virus, etc that does this to no avail. Does anyone have any idea as to what could have happened?
Not really. Which version are you using? Some old TB 59 beta? Or TB 52.9.1? Time to upgrade to TB 60.

I don't think that could have been Thunderbird.
