For the Content Blocking UI tour in 65, please make the following string changes. All are outlined in this spreadsheet for easier readability and comparison between 63 and 65: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1paxNNGKPixmt7PExvKG2YYAqmpUDiXibc-q_Q-SdiXI/edit#gid=0

Summary of Changes
+ Step 1 and 2 stay the same. String changes on Step 3 to reflect new button copy.
+ On Private Window Step 4, there's a string change
+ For 65, can we change all URLs to content-blocking instead of tracking-protection since we are phasing out this language?

Private Mode Variation 1
+ Step 3, change to: If content blocking prevents you from using a site you trust, select “Turn off Blocking Temporarily.
+ Step 4, change to: Learn more about how it works.

Normal Mode Variation 1
+ Step 3, change to: If content blocking prevents you from using a site you trust, select “Turn off Blocking for This Site.”

Normal Mode Variation 2
+ Step 3, change to: If content blocking prevents you from using a site you trust, select “Turn off Blocking for This Site.”

Hi Betsy,

Whilst implementing these changes I noticed we seem to be missing strings for a couple more states (testing in Nightly).

Notably:

1. Private Mode Variation 2. The panel text does not matche the button text in the privacy control center.
2. The text to re-enable content blocking (all variations) does not match the button text in the privacy control center.

I'll attach images of both states to better highlight each instance.

Ah, wasn't aware there was a V2 in private browsing! I'd like to walk myself through that experience. How do I trigger Private Mode Variation 2?

I'm not sure how to trigger the different variations from in-product, other than open the URLs directly.

Opening a private window and then hitting /start/?variation=2 should do the trick.

Thanks Betsy,

I've put together what I think are the final set of strings and pushed them to a demo instance. Could you help QA that the strings are all correct?

Note that for the tour to work on a demo server, you'll need to whitelist UITour for that domain.

1. Open `about:config`
2. Create a new preference called `browser.uitour.testingOrigins` by right clicking and selecting `New` -> `String`.
3. Give the preferecne a value of `https://bedrock-demo-agibson.oregon-b.moz.works/`.

If you follow the above steps correctly, then visit any of the URLs below the tour should work. Of course, make sure you have Content Blocking enabled also.

Test in a normal window:

https://bedrock-demo-agibson.oregon-b.moz.works/en-US/firefox/65.0/content-blocking/start/?newtab=true&variation=1
https://bedrock-demo-agibson.oregon-b.moz.works/en-US/firefox/65.0/content-blocking/start/?newtab=true&variation=2

Test in a Private Window:

https://bedrock-demo-agibson.oregon-b.moz.works/en-US/firefox/65.0/content-blocking/start/?variation=1
https://bedrock-demo-agibson.oregon-b.moz.works/en-US/firefox/65.0/content-blocking/start/?variation=2

Any problems or questions feel free to ping me on Slack, or needsinfo here. Thanks

Sorry for the error here, one of the variations was inheriting from the old view. I've updated the demo server and fingers crossed all should now be well. Can you please verify? Thanks!

Excellent! Everything looks great on my end. We are good to move forward with these tours and the strings.

Please note the opening quotes where closing ones should be needed:

  • “Turn on Blocking for This Site.“
  • “Disable Blocking Temporarily“
  • “Disable Blocking For This Site“

Thanks for noting this. These strings we're finalized and locked down 6 days ago. I'm not going to ask our volunteer translation community to redo their work at this time, based on the above.
