Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:63.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/63.0 Steps to reproduce: Click on a link to Twitter (e.g. a tweet) Actual results: The link opens in a new tab in Firefox for Android. Due to the slugginess of the Twitter web app and the bad mobile internet connection, Twitter displays a "couldn't be loaded" error page. I'm from germany, where we don't have fast mobile internet generally available. I'm sorry. Expected results: The link should have been opened with the Twitter app in the first place. That's why I installed the Twitter app. Because it won't load a whole web page (only the tweet data), it loads much faster and is generally more stable. Even with german mobile internet. I know of the "android" icon in the firefox adress bar. Therefore, Firefox knows the link could have been opened with the app. Instead, it failed to load the sluggy web page and drained my limited german data transfer volume. Please do at least add a configurable choice to always open links in the assigned app.

That bug you linked as duplicate is 7 years old. I suggest it's time to reconsider this option?
