User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/71.0.3578.80 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce: Scroll through mail, or click on a menu pull-down. This is a noticeable difference from the previous version. Actual results: Response time measurable in seconds. Comparing to previous versions, all functions were instantaneous. In addition, while running TOP, the Thunderbird process will eat an entire core when scrolling or selecting any mail. However, the application will idle at or around 0% Expected results: Instantaneous response, especially when clicking on the main menus, like File or Tools.

Any change after Help > Restart with addons disabled?

None. I tried that, also deleting the global index, and repairing the inbox. The number of messages in my inbox is circa 12,700. I should note that I recently observed that performance normalizes if I'm navigating small folders. But browsing any folders containing more than 100 messages, the problem comes back.

I'd say this is bug 1510325.

Ismael, do you still see this when using a current version?
(In reply to Jorg K (GMT+2) from comment #4)
I'd say this is bug 1510325.
Presumably then fixed in 60.x by bug 1404666

Please run the performance profiler:
- Install profiler add-on into thunderbird - download the file from https://github.com/firefox-devtools/Gecko-Profiler-Addon/blob/master/gecko_profiler.xpi?raw=true and in Tools > add-ons click the gear to install add-on from file
- Follow instructions at https://profiler.firefox.com/ (videos BASED ON FIREFOX at https://profiler.firefox.com/docs/#/./videos-intro )
- Create a profiler URL and post it here.
You must be using Thunderbird beta from https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/channel/ or current nightly build from https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/nightly/latest-comm-central/
