I've tested this report on Windows 10 x64 and OS X 10.14.2 using the latest Nightly and Fx release build. I was able to reproduce the mentioned behavior using the Responsive Design mode. When "Search for text when you start typing" is enabled and using RDM, the input is not entered into the field instead a search is initiated as mentioned.
