When I restart Firefox after a crash, we see a dialog box that tells you that Firefox could not recover all of your tabs, and then offers you the option of trying to recover your tabs or starting clean.

The recover your tabs button somehow always works.

Per a conversation and some anecdata collected by Asa, it's clear that if we tell people we can't recover their previous session, they (reasonably) interpret the "try again" button as a non-starter, and end up experiencing data loss.

I'd like us to skip a step, not show the interstitial, and recover the tabs immediately. We may need to do something different if we fast-crash twice in a row, but right now that interstitial is both incorrect and frightening people.
I agree :) I'd like to know what Amy thinks of this idea!
