Per bug 1514062, we're seeing performance issues with Widevine 4.10.1196.0 for Windows users with multiple displays. We're still investigating this issue and waiting on Widevine to respond to our inquiries, but that we've received multiple reports in a short time since this went to release is a cause for concern. We'd moved to 4.10.1196.0 to avoid a crash on older Mac hardware (Bug 1496408), but since these issues appear to be Windows specific, I think we can safely revert here while this is investigated. This CDM had previously been tested in nightly and beta and aside from the Mac only crash, we did not see issue. Could we please update the balrog rules to serve the following CDMs to Windows for Firefox 64 and above (should replace 4.10.1196.0): Win32 URL: https://redirector.gvt1.com/edgedl/widevine-cdm/4.10.1146.0-win-ia32.zip SHA512: d00fb1ce1b7d359ac0f06480d83960fc9aae25f6933e736483c7e27f86ad70a2ca7bfe45027874d1b619d3b72944372d5a7fb124ade4978efdcaeff0cc6c415b file size: 3554840 bytes Win64 URL: https://redirector.gvt1.com/edgedl/widevine-cdm/4.10.1146.0-win-x64.zip SHA512: 6879b1a718f121eaca93864fa08dc29d5cd5adbdcfc3c3b7dd8cabea768ef4b2cc44b0d43bd04ce2768bea8039faf0a2ebc6d81247101abbe28efda253c89197 file size: 3523651 bytes

:mtabara is swamped, stepping in. It looks like we have the 4.10.1146.0 release already, here [1], with matching shas. I added rule 853 [2] at priority 220. It currently only affects nightlytest. I believe it will pin Windows users to 1146. Bryce, could you test? Once we know win{32,64} users get the right Widevine, I can change this to roll out on all channels. I'm having issues in my testing with nightlytest on nightly (66). Firefox is hitting the following URL, and the XML coming back doesn't seem to have a widevine entry: https://aus5.mozilla.org/update/3/GMP/66.0a1/20181214054322/WINNT_x86_64-msvc-x64/en-US/nightlytest/Windows_NT%2010.0.0.0.17134.471%20(x64)/default/default/update.xml I don't think I understand well enough why this may be, does it mean anything more to you, Aki?

Poking at the rules it looks like the background rate for the new rule is 0, could this be the cause?
Tested on win{32,64} and is working as expected. Also confirmed that Mac and Linux are still getting 4.10.1196.0. Looks good to roll out to me.

Updated the rule to roll out to all channels. Needs relman signoff.
I believe this went live on Friday.
