I think this is something we could potentially look into with an alert visualization rework so we should keep it open, but it might be a big task given how long we've been using the current state system. That said, it might be easy to make a mapping to simpler states/terms from the current ones in the alert view when developers look at it, but leave the current ones for sheriffs.
