From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC; en-US; rv:1.1a) Gecko/20020611 BuildID: 2002061103 The drop down menus in the Font preferences for selecting fonts for 'serif' sans-serif, monospace etc.. misbehave _very_ badly when using the modern theme with lots of fonts! The menu shows up properly, but once you hover over either of the autoscroll buttons the menu just keeps scrolling to the other end of the font list, no matter what you do. Classic theme works fine, because there is a scrollbar in the fonts menu. The long (personal toolbar) bookmark list bug does not occur in Mozilla 1.1a, even whilst it has same kind of menu as the font preferences. BTW, Why there is no menu acceleration? The menu scrolls way too fast! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Preferences -> Appearance -> Fonts 2. Make sure you have 250+ fonts open 3. Open any of the drop down menus for 'serif', 'sans-serif' etc... 4. Feel the pain of menu scrolling for two minutes at the speed of 30 fonts per second... not very easy to select fonts, eh? :-P Actual Results: The font menu scrolls through all fonts to the other end of the list and stops. If you try to scroll to other direction it scrolls to the other end. Can not select any specific font, because the menu scrolls way too fast and does not stop scrolling. Only ways to stop the scrolling is to click some random font in the menu or click outside the menu. Expected Results: I expected the menu behave like Mac OS native menus. - they start from the point which was previously selected - they use whole screen height for showing the menu - they have acceleration, so the scrolling speed depends on how far over the first/last item you place the cursor - in combo-box menus (like the Freehand's font menu), you can use keyboard (up/down arrows, any other character) to make a selection, ie. for selecting Univers, you could type "uni". Why don't you use a combo-box? I know this is a duplicate of bug #128485, but because that is (IMO falsely) marked a duplicate for bug #124485 ("Long lists of folders/bookmarks after up/down arrow not reachable", all platforms), which is fixed for 0.9.9 I made another bug report.

Clearing numeric alias. Numeric aliases won't work because Bugzilla will confuse them with bug numbers. Use an alpha-numeric alias instead.

Confirmed using Pinball or Modern, OS 9.21. Trying to "catch" a desired font as the list goes whizzing by is a real pain several times over and a major waste of time. Bob Friede rlf9@earthlink.net
Peter, you're reporting too many issues in one bug, here. You report that: - The menu keeps scrolling even when the mouse is moved off the scroll arrows - The menu scrolls too fast - The menu's scrolling rate should increase with time - The menu scrolls too slow - The menu should behave like (or actually be) a Mac OS native menu. You need to file one bug per each of these issues. Some of them will turn out to be duplicates.
