1517031 - 'Mark Folder Read' not working on RSS feeds in the folder when folder marked as read

Steps to reproduce:

I clicked on a folder in the side panel view to list all of my RSS feeds under a folder heading. I right clicked and selected 'Mark Folder Read'


Actual results:

Nothing happens. It doesn't mark anything as read and I have to manually select all the feeds within the folder and click mark as read.


Expected results:

All of the feeds within the folder should have been cleared so it doesn't look like there are new feeds to read.

Hmm, I can mark a specific feed as read. What do you mean by

Don't the feeds appear under a Feeds account heading?

The feeds can be organized by placing them into folders in the sidebar, similar to the email Folders.

It works for me to mark as read a normal folder, as well as all normal folders when context menu is on the account. What doesn't work is marking a multifolder saved search folder.  And it has nothing to do with feeds.

Hi alta88, what is a smart folder?

I just created normal folders to organize my RSS feeds, does that automatically make them smart folders?

You can ask about smart folders/saved searches in a support forum, or search for documentation..

If you do not have a saved search folder, then you need to post a screenshot of your folders configuration. If you think marking a folder read works for all of its subfolders, that would be incorrect.

Actually the folders do not have subfolders. I am am clicking on a folder that contains 5 rss feeds and trying to mark it as read, which doesn't work.

"Smart" folders are virtual folders that display messages from other folders, either via a saved search or by unifying inbox/trash/sent/etc. folders. Putting feeds into folders doesn't make those folders smart.

As Alta88 said, marking the folder read won't mark the subfolders read, that is the feeds in your case. This is my setup to test this.

Thanks for your help Jorg. I didn't realize that an rss url was considered a subfolder.

a folder in a feed account may have 0, 1, or many feed subscriptions; the subscription url(s) is only visible in the Subscribe dialog tree.

Hi alta88, I'm familiar with that guide. I only setup folders that have subscription urls in them. I did not setup sub folders within them.
