1517203 - Embedded GeckoView in other applications very frequently just displays a blank page

Most of the time when using an embedded GeckoView via GMail, the page displays just blank white and the loading throbber stays in its initial position. The google redirect URL also doesn't progress to the actual URL. Loading the page in the browser works fine.

It's actually quite rare that the embedded view actually works, so I expect it to be quite easy to reproduce this behaviour. I've reproduced it on a OnePlus 3 running Android 8.0 and a Nokia 7.1 running both Android 8.1 and Android 9.0.

This bug has been present for quite a while, I expect it may already be filed? But a cursory search hasn't turned up anything. Attached a screenshot in case it isn't obvious enough from the description. The embedded view never progresses from the screenshot, though the loading bar is animated.
