Steps to reproduce:

Loaded Version 65 0 Beta 1


Actual results:

No cursor in body, I could no longer compose emails, unless I went to a recieved message and 'replied' to it.
In the formatting instructions my preferred incoming address was still listed as was my footer, neither of which showed up in the 'New' outgoing message.
I reloaded version 64.4.0 and Thunderbird reverted to normal

You mean you reverted to TB 60.4? A version 64.4 never existed, only TB 64.0 beta 1 to beta 4.

New e-mails don't place the cursor into the body, but into the addressing widget instead.

Bug has a similar complaint, you may want to read bug 1517790 comment #6. In general, you should try disabling all add-ons.
