Details

I've tried several times to install Mozilla 1.0 on my Win2000 Pro machine with a
500Mhz processor and 256M RAM. Each time it appears to be OK, starts and goes
to the Mozilla web site for the initial START info. However, when the dialog
box pops up saying to make Mozilla my default browser with YES, NO, and CANCEL
buttons - it is all over. If I click either box, the application stops
responding (as per the Task Manager). I can do and end process to stop it, so
it isn't a total lockup of the machine. I've tried several times to install it.
Each time I did an uninstall first. I've usually also deleted the directory
(mozilla.org) after doing a remove. I had Netscape 6.2 on this machine, and
read that there might be a conflict, so I removed it and ran REGCLEAN, deleted
the 6.2 directory, then tried a new install. No luck. I use Norton anti virus,
so I stopped it and tried a new install, same results.
I've installed it on another similar machine and it works just fine. I LOVE
it and want it on my normal machine. I've said YES, NO and CANCEL to the default
browser questions, but it always freezes.
Do you run mozilla as User or administrator ?
Have you tried a new profile ?
(run "mozilla -profilemanager" and create an additional test profile)

Have you also deleted all file in c:\program\mozilla.org (backup your plugins)
after you uninstalled mozilla ?
Severity: blocker → critical
I'm new to Mozilla and was not aware there's User and Administrator
modes/options. I will try playing with the -profilemanager option. Perhaps it
will let me get past the killer dialog box. It looks like it is going to start,
but that dialog box is what kills it. By the way, until I actually hit one of
the buttons on the box "YES NO or CANCEL" it is not locked up. I can click and
drag the box around, until I click on one of the boxes - then everything stops.
On the second question, yes - I deleted the entire mozilla.org directory after
doing an uninstall.

I mean :
Do you install/run Mozilla as normal user or with administrator rights on your
win2k system...
Sorry, I installed as administrator.
