Noticed this on 2002-06-10-1.0.0 branch build, while i was validating some
CSS testcase images captured by LAS.
i had a c: drive - directory structure open on the browser window. this
directory had over 300 jpg images. I was selecting one image - viewing it -
clicking the back button to return to the directory structure page - and
repeating this process again and again.
after i went back and forth the 2 pages a number of times - the browser just
hung.
The window task manager shows the process as 'running' but actually - the
browser does not respond to any requests.
Was not sure which component to place this bug in . Please reassign accordingly.

other wierd things i noticed :
1. just before the browser stopped responding, when i clicked the browser back
button to go back to the page, which displayed the contents of the c: drive
directory structure, I saw all the contents (names of the jpg files in the
directory structure) displayed in bold. Whereas, initially they were displayed
in normal font.
2. The 'navigation bar' and 'location bar' displayed black lines intermittently.
When i mouseover'd them , these lines disappeared.
wierd ..... but i have been able to reproduce this issue twice, so far.

wfm with win2k build 20020613..
(used a directory with 400 images (jpeg and bmp) )
Do you use a NS7 branch build or a Mozilla.org build ?

i was using the NS7 branch build dated 2002-06-10-1.0.0 on win 2k.
I went to and fro the 2 pages a number of times before i got the hang. I'll try
this in the latest branch build and see if this still happens.

this is the images directory. all the jpg files are lsted under this directory.
I start opening each image file, then hit the browser back button to get back
to the directory page (on the same window).
Continue this loop for n number of times.

after i have gone back and forth the 2 pages a number of times, this is what i
see .....
1. the page content appears bold
2. the vertical scroll bar looks half done
3. the navigation tool bar looks abnormal
when i click on any image link from the directory page, the image file is
displayed blank
then the browser stops responding

strangly enough, aftert the NS7 browser hung, the other aplications on my
machine started acting up. Whichever application i opened - whether it be -
textpad, winzip, netscape 4.7, etc. (see the screen image attached), when i
clicked for the 1st time on the file/edit menu, i saw the the drop down list
half blackened.
Strange --- but i saw this only after the NS7 hang caused by the desriptions i
have mentioned above.
Simply closing down the application and restarting it was not getting rid of
the effect. I had to re-start my machine to get rid of this after effect.
ideas?

Can you try a mozilla.org build to test ?
I tried it 10minutes without luck. I could create a stack trace for this hang...
