What did you do?
1. Follow the link for "Promoting MDN", which links to https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/MDN/Promote
What happened?
End up on https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/MDN/About/Promote
What should have happened?
The internal links on the homepage (both in toolbars and content) should not be redirects, but instead should link to the destination content.
Is there anything else we should know?
Some SEO experts claim that internal redirect links are treated as a negative quality signal by search engines.
The large number of redirects on wiki pages (bug 872593) is a hard problem to solve, but the homepage should be a more limited case that we can keep clean.
A redirect page will need to be retained in the sample database for integration testing. Once the Promote MDN link is fixed, the /en-US/docs/MDN/Promote page will need to be explicitly added to the sample DB spec.
