User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.11; rv:64.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/64.0
Steps to reproduce:
Mac OS 10.11.6 "El Capitan"
Firefox 64.0.0, Firefox 64.0.2
After the upgrade from Firefox 61.0.0, Firefox 61.0.2, to Firefox 64.0.0, Firefox 64.0.2 . . .
Actual results:
Julien Cristau [:jcristau] at comment 58, of https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1513511 , asked that I create a new bug report for the following:
YouTube video's progress area (showing the Pause button, Speaker icon, etc.) within the bottom region of the video frame, flickers - when the mouse arrow hovers anywhere over the video frame area, while the video is playing.
Motion anywhere else within the video frame, will also flicker.
And, there is also an initial flickering period, of a few seconds when the video starts playing.
This YouTube video problem was not occurring with Firefox 61.0.0, Firefox 61.0.2.

I downloaded and installed Internet browser Cliqz 1.24.0 (64.0 + 1.32.4) (64-bit). It is supposed to be a fork of Firefox?
Cliqz does not have the problem.

About all three of those horizontal bar graphs: All three are solid, unlike the Firefox performance where the bar graphs are intermittent.

Would you mind trying MozRegression to narrow down the version between 61 and 64 where this bug started occuring, please? There's a video explaining how to do so included in this page: https://mozilla.github.io/mozregression/quickstart.html
I'd be surprised if there were difference's in Cliq's media or rendering code that would cause this behaviour to occur in regular Firefox but not in Cliq. Is it possible the problem is intermittent and would show up in Cliq with sufficient testing?
It's the "Use hardware acceleration when available" switch. I had it DISABLED. I ENABLED it for a test profile. Problem solved. Next, I ENABLED it for my primary profile. Problem solved.

Per comment5, the issue doesn't exist anymore after reported enable hw decoding. Close this bug.
