Details

From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.0.0) Gecko/20020530 BuildID: 2002053012 Occasionally (about every 20th time or so), when I bring up the Mail & Newgroups window for the first time after booting the machine, it comes up completely blank - i.e. no folders, nothing there (except the pane dividers). If I close the window and try again, same thing. If I reboot and try, same thing. The only thing I've found that fixes it is to re-install Mozilla, and then all my folders and mail appear again as if nothing had happened. Note: I also have Netscape 6.2 installed, and it used to be my mail app (now Mozilla is my default mail app). Possibly this is related somehow? Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot machine. 2. Bring up Mozilla. 3. Click Mail & Newsgroups button at lower left. Actual Results: As I said, this only happens occasionally.
I am also using: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.0.0) Gecko/20020530 BuildID: 2002053012 I can confirm the same thing happening but with a few differences. I can solve the problem by rebooting the machine and I do not have any Netscape versions loaded on my machine. I agree that it only happens once in awhile and can't figure out how to reproduce it. A few times when this has happened, upon rebooting and launching Mozilla, the program crashes while loading. The incident ID from Talkback is: TB8187984K. I also load e-mail by first launching Mozilla then clicking the Mail button at the lower left.
After further use I believe this bug only happens when "quick launch" is enabled. I've had q.l. disabled for awhile now with no further recurrances of the bug. I went back to using q.l. briefly and the bug happened. I also think it has nothing to do with having Netscape installed (unless q.l. interacts with Netscape somehow).
Like I said in my previous comment, normally I would have to reboot to fix this problem. I read the last comment about "Quicklaunch" being a potential cause. The next time this error occured I went to the options, disabled Quicklaunch and then tried to launch the mail program again. It came up ok with all the folders and I hadn't even restarted Mozilla or the computer.
Reporter: Is this still a problem with 1.3 or later ?
Pat Clancy, Jeff Ligon: are either of you still encountering this bug with current builds (1.3 or 1.4a/b/rc)?
I have not had this happen using 1.3.

Same here, haven't seen it for a long time, seems to be gone with current version 1.4rc1.
