I'd love to get input from Jennifer here on changing "projects" to "labs". A lot of UX research was done on choosing the existing categories, and while "labs" is what we may call this bucket internally, I'm not sure it's clear what that means to someone who has little context as to what Mozilla does (other than make Firefox).
Also, we have only just finished translating all the current strings for l10n, so changing any of these is going to cause some disruption. We should look carefully here and try and minimize changes if at all possible.

I do have some concerns about changing this. I worry most people won't know what "labs" means, not to mention there are other things in that category that are not lab specific.
I did not user test the term "labs" but I did do some extensive research around "project" and users had a very good grasp on what that term meant and what they expected to find under it. If there is a strong push to use the term "labs" I think there should be some user testing around it first before just changing projects to labs.

We don't know enough to change "projects" to "labs" just yet. I'll take on the task of testing. Depending on timing it may be a new ticket.

We both agreed that we should still move forward with the other changes to the projects section (copy, links, images).

Things have changed since this bug was initially filed, so here is an updated request:

note: icons can stay the same, but I'm requesting changes to copy and links. The globe icon is generic enough to work, but if there is anything better for machine learning, it can be swapped
